Bruce R. Jones is Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer at The Travelers. He is also a member of the company’s Management and Operating Committees and leads Enterprise Risk Management department.
Bruce joined Travelers in 1978 as an actuarial student, working on the Workers Compensation product in Hartford, CT. He has held Chief Actuary positions in both National Accounts (10+ years) and Commercial Accounts (5+ years). He has helped build and lead the current ERM group (over the last 10+ years). During his career at Travelers, he has been instrumental in the development of CARMA (Client Access Risk Management Analysis), Loss responsive pricing and cash flow models, LRRS (Loss Reserve Reporting System), APE (Account Pricing Exhibits), Field Office and Regional Controllable Income reporting, Production reporting, Flow (Agency submission activity), ROE model, the proprietary hurricane catastrophe model, Economic Capital Model, business unit and product Performance Measures, the Chart Book for risk exposures and the Risk Book.
Bruce is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA). He has served as a member of the Individual Risk Committee of the NCCI, the Actuarial Research Committee of ISO, the NY, PA and MA WC Actuarial Committees, and the chairman of AAA ERM subcommittee. He also co-authored papers for the CAS on “Measuring R.O.E. from a Financial Planning Perspective” and for AAA on “Insurance Enterprise Risk Management Practices.” He holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Boston University.
Bruce and his wife, Debora, have six children and live in Connecticut.
