Guy Combot Vice President - Senior Analyst, Financial Institutions Moody's Ratings

Guy Combot joined Moody’s as Vice President – Senior Analyst with the Financial Institutions Group in September 2018 and is based in our Paris office. He covers a portfolio of French and Italian banks.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Guy worked at CNP Assurances, a leading provider of life insurance in France. After joining CNP Assurances in 1998, he worked in a number of positions including the compliance unit and investment division, before starting his last role as a senior buy-side credit analyst of financial institutions in 2012.

Guy graduated from IPAG Paris Business school with a Master’s degree in Corporate Finance and holds an Accounting post-graduate degree from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers.

Guy is a Financial Analyst (CIAA / EFFAS), and a member of SFAF(French Society of Financial Analysts).

Guy is a French national and speaks fluent Italian and English.

Michelangelo Margaria Country Manager - Italy Moody's Ratings

Michelangelo Margaria is an Associate Managing Director with Moody’s Structured Finance Group and is based in the Milan office. 

He co-leads the Consumer Surveillance team in the EMEA region and coordinates the Structured Finance activity in the Italian market. Previously, he co-lead the EMEA RMBS team and was a senior analyst rating securitization transactions backed by different asset classes in various EMEA jurisdictions.

Michelangelo Margaria also serves as Moody’s Ratings Country Manager for Italy, overseeing Moody's Ratings activities in the country. Before joining Moody’s in 2002, Michelangelo worked in the Structured Credit Group at UBS in London. Mr. Margaria graduated in engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin.

Gianni Franco Papa Chief Executive Officer BPER

Gianni Franco Papa graduated in Law from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan.

He began his professional career at UniCredit S.p.A., holding various senior management positions in Italy and abroad.

In 2000, he was appointed Head of Asia (Singapore) and, subsequently, in 2003, he became Head of the Americas (New York), a position he held until 2005, when he returned to Europe to serve as General Manager at UniBanka (Slovakia). In 2008, he was appointed as General Manager of Ukrosotsbank (Ukraine).

In 2010 he was appointed Head of the CEE division and Deputy CEO of Bank Austria.

In 2015, he took on the role of Head of the Corporate & Investment Banking Division and Deputy General Manager of the Group, to then become Group General Manager in 2016 and Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer from February to end of May 2019.

He has held, inter alia, the positions of Chair and Member of the Board of Directors of numerous Italian and foreign banks and companies operating in the financial sector of the UniCredit Group.

He was also a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Italian Banking Association (ABI), as well as a member of the Executive Committee of FEBAF (Italian Banking, Insurance and Finance Federation).

From 2021 to April 2024 he has been a Member of the Board of Directors of BPER Banca S.p.A., where he held the position of member (former Chair) of the Control and Risk Committee.

Since April 2024 he has been Chief Executive Officer of BPER Banca S.p.A.

He was awarded the highest-ranking honour of Commendatore by the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
