Nick Hill Managing Director - Global Credit Strategy & Guidance Moody's Ratings

Nick Hill is a Managing Director and heads the Credit Strategy & Guidance function within the Credit Strategy & Standards division in Moody’s Ratings. 

Based in Paris, he joined Moody’s in March 2010, initially heading the France / BeNeLux banking team. 

Since then he has managed successively larger teams, led the global revision of Moody’s bank rating methodology, which was published in 2015, and latterly was co-head of the global banking team. 

Prior to joining Moody’s, Nick worked as a bank analyst in a variety of roles. These include banking supervision at the Bank of England and Financial Services Authority, where he began his career; sell-side equity research on French banks in a #1 ranked team at Morgan Stanley; rating UK and continental European banks at Standard & Poor’s; and providing balance sheet advice to financial institutions with RBS. 

A graduate of Christ’s College, University of Cambridge in the UK, Nick holds an MA in English, a diploma in French, and a postgraduate certificate in Finance from Birkbeck College, University of London.   

Felipe Carvallo Vice President - Senior Credit Officer, Financial Institutions Group Moody’s Ratings

Felipe is a Vice President-Senior Credit Officer in the Financial Institutions Group for Moody's. Based in Mexico City, he leads the credit analysis of various financial institutions, including banks, securities firms and finance companies in Mexico, Chile and Peru. Prior to this position, he had similar responsibilities for financial institutions throughout Latin America. Felipe joined Moody's in 2000. He holds an MBA from New York University and received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Boston. He speaks fluent Spanish, English and Portuguese

Rita Sahu Vice President - Senior Credit Officer, North America Banks Moody's Investors Service

Rita Sahu is a Vice President - Senior Credit Officer in the Financial Institutions Group of Moody’s Investors Service, covering a portfolio of US banks. She joined Moody’s in 2003 as an Associate Analyst and has had lead analytical responsibilities since 2005.

Before joining Moody’s, Rita held positions with J.P. Morgan, primarily in counter party credit risk management, where she was responsible for monitoring and reporting on the firm’s global trading activities. Prior to J.P. Morgan, she was a compliance officer at Republic National Bank of New York. Rita began her career as a bank examiner for large regional and community banks with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

Rita holds a BS in accounting from Rutgers University and an MBA in finance from Columbia Business School.

Maria Cabanyes Senior Vice President, Financial Institutions Moody's Ratings

Maria Cabanyes is a Senior Vice President and team coordinator in the EMEA Financial Institutions Group for Spain and Portugal, in addition, she is lead analyst for the larger financial institutions in Spain.

Ms Cabanyes joined Moody’s London-based banking team in December 1992, since when she has followed banks as lead analyst, as well as in Spain, in the Nordic region, Portugal and in Latin America. Ms Cabanyes has also served as Regional Credit Officer to Moody’s Banking and Finance rating teams in EMEA, ensuring compliance with existing rating methodologies, supporting the development and implementation of analytical initiatives as well as facilitating global rating consistency.

Prior to joining Moody’s in 1992, Ms Cabanyes was an equity analyst at Iberagentes (Spain). Ms Cabanyes has a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and MSc in Finance from Colegio Universitario de Estudios Financieros (CUNEF) Madrid.

Nicholas Zhu Vice President - Senior Credit Officer, Financial Institutions Moody's Ratings

Based in Beijing, Nicholas supports cross-border rating activities of Chinese banks. Previously, he was Moody’s key point of contact on the Chinese regional and local government sector.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Nicholas advised the Asian Development Bank on various China banking initiatives. He has extensive credit experience, having worked at HSBC, Standard Chartered and ANZ on a range of sectors and issues related to risk assessment for Basel II and other regulatory frameworks. Earlier in his career he was a senior economist with the World Bank.

Nicholas holds a Ph. D. in International Finance and M.A. in Economics from Georgetown University, and a B.S. in Mathematical Statistics from Sichuan University. He is also a CFA charter-holder.
