Steve Finch is the President & Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Asia, overseeing operations throughout Manulife’s Asia franchise, which includes Hong Kong and Macau, mainland China, Japan, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar and the International High Net Worth business. Steve has been with Manulife for over 30 years and has been a member of Manulife’s Executive Leadership team since 2016.

Steve served as Manulife’s Chief Actuary, overseeing Actuarial, Risk and Life Reinsurance functions globally, before taking on his current role. A proven leader across functional and commercial areas of Manulife’s business, he contributed significantly to the company’s transformation and financial performance through numerous historic transactions and played a key role in Manulife’s transition to IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 accounting standards.

Steve had previously held the role of Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer at John Handcock, where he oversaw the overall financial management of Manulife’s U.S. operations. Prior to this, he was also the Executive Vice President and General Manager for John Hancock’s life insurance business, wherein he managed all aspects of the individual life insurance business in the U.S., including Sales, Distribution, Marketing, Product, Information Technology, New Business and Customer Service Operations and Finance.

Steve is a graduate of Queen’s University and holds a B.ScH in Statistics. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.

Arjan Toor joined Prudential plc as the CEO for Health in February 2024. In his role, Arjan has full financial and operational accountability of Prudential’s Health business. He leads a network of Chief Health Officers and works closely with Prudential’s markets in Asia and Africa to grow the business, creating operating leverage across the entire value chain.

Arjan is a seasoned senior healthcare executive with close to three decades of experience in leadership roles across Asia, Africa, Europe and North America. Prior to joining Prudential he was CEO for Cigna Europe, one of the largest global health services companies, where he gained deep health insurance knowledge and experience with an admirable track record of success. Before that, Arjan worked for the Dutch financial services firm ING for 15 years in a variety of marketing leadership roles, most recently as Senior Vice President for External Relations at ING Bank Netherlands and Chief Marketing Officer at ING Life in South Korea, building teams that excelled at developing innovative customer propositions and delivering intuitive, personalised customer experiences.

Arjan is a keen sportsman and enjoys running, golf, scuba diving and skiing. He earned a Master’s degree in Management and Political Science and has completed Executive Leadership Programs at Tuck Business School and MIT Sloan School of Management.

Alan Ho is Co-Senior Country Officer (Co-SCO) for China and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Asia Pacific at J.P. Morgan. He is a member of the firm’s Asia Pacific Management Committee and the Asia Pacific Executive Management Team. Alan also co-chairs the China Operating Committee, the Asia Pacific Operating Committee and the Asia Pacific Capital and Liquidity Committee. 

As Co-SCO for China, Alan is responsible for driving the firm’s overall agenda across the China franchise, and helping to bring J.P. Morgan’s global network and resources to this critical market.

As Asia Pacific CFO, Alan is responsible for delivering strategic commercial and financial advice to encourage synergy across lines of business (LoB) in the region. He also oversees the Control Management and Planning & Analysis functions, as well as manages the Senior Country Business Managers, LoB Business Managers and Controllers in the region.

Alan joined J.P. Morgan in 2005 as Asia Principal Investment CFO and Asia Credit Market Business Controller. He has subsequently held numerous senior leadership roles across the firm including China Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific Regional Controller, and most recently as Asia Pacific Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer.

Alan graduated from the Tufts University in USA. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a Certified Public Accountant (HKICPA) and a fellow member of CPA Australia.

Rob Peat serves as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Asia Pacific at Cigna Healthcare’s International Health (IH) business. Rob has over 20 years of global experience leading finance, actuarial, and business strategy teams within the global health and supplemental benefits insurance sector.

As CEO of Asia Pacific, Rob oversees IH operations in Hong Kong, Singapore, mainland China, and Australia, driving accelerated growth across this key region and identifying opportunities for greater leverage among markets. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors for Cigna & CMB Life Ins Co (China) and other entities of The Cigna Group.

Rob is a veteran at The Cigna Group, having joined the business as an Actuary in Philadelphia, U.S. before assuming increasing responsibility within the finance division over the years, including becoming Chief Actuary and CFO for IH.

Rob graduated from Heriot-Watt University in the U.K. with a degree in actuarial mathematics and statistics (BSc). Rob is also a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow of Society Actuaries.

Mr. Wallace Lam is a seasoned banker with nearly 30 years of experience. Mr. Lam started his banking career in HSBC in 1995, and held various senior management positions in corporate and commercial banking with extensive experience in global banking, retail banking, credit risk management, trade services and debt capital markets in both Hong Kong and mainland China over his 26-year tenure. Prior to assuming the position of Chief Executive of the Bank in February 2025, Mr. Lam was Managing Director and Head of Institutional Banking Group of DBS Bank (Hong Kong).

Mr. Lam is a Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers Executive Committee, Member of the Hong Kong Housing Society Supervisory Board, Audit Committee, and Finance Committee; Member of the Hong Kong Housing Authority Funds Management Sub-Committee; Member of the Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile Board of Directors, as well as Member of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Business School Career Development Advisory Council.

Esther Mai is a leader in the Hong Kong retail banking industry. She has rich experience in Digital, Customer Experience & Operations.

Esther joined Standard Chartered as International Graduate, and has held leadership positions in Risk Management, Operations and Digital Banking. She was the founding member and Chief Operating Officer of Mox Bank since its inception in 2018. Together with the team, she built the Bank from scratch and made it one of the top virtual banks in Hong Kong.

Esther rejoined Standard Chartered Hong Kong in early 2023, with the aspiration to transform banking via technology, innovation, and a sustainable operating model. Under her leadership, the Bank has launched its new mobile app in early 2024, and elevated the customer digital experience since. In 2024, Standard Chartered Hong Kong was named the Best Mobile Banking Service by The Asian Banker, and has taken home the EuroMoney Award for Excellence as Hong Kong’s Best Digital Bank.

Richard Chan is the Chief Investment and ALM Officer of CTF Life. He is responsible for all investment and asset-liability management (ALM) matters of CTF Life including strategic asset allocation, tactical asset allocation, hedging solution and liquidity management. His team performs securities selection and trading activities in the directly managed portfolios covering rates, credit, equities and derivatives, as well as the manager selection and oversight in the delegated portfolios.

 Before joining CTF Life, Richard Chan was the HK Chief Investment Officer and Asia Head of ALM of AXA. Further before, he was the Capital and Investment Actuary in Prudential Hong Kong and the Chief Risk Officer of Aviva HK. Richard is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a CFA charter-holder and an FRM charter-holder.

Thomas Cheong is Executive Vice President of Principal Financial Group^® and President of Asia Pacific and Middle East. He leads the client-facing functions in Asia Pacific and the Middle East, while driving growth through Principal wholly owned businesses in the region and joint venture partnerships with China Construction Bank (CCB) and Malaysia’s CIMB Bank Group.  He is a member of the Principal’s Executive Management Group and currently serves on the boards of several Principal subsidiaries.

Cheong joined Principal in January 2015 and has over 30 years of public and private sector management experience in APAC & Middle East, holding various senior management positions with profit and loss responsibilities.  His extensive experience in financial services covers asset management, pension, and life insurance businesses.

Cheong was a Singapore Government scholar, and received his bachelor’s degree in econometrics, with first class honours, from the London School of Economics. He obtained an MBA from the Olin Business School of Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL) and inducted to Beta Gamma Sigma Honorary Business School Society. Cheong served previously as a member of WUSTL’s Alumni Board of Governors and continues to be active on its regional advisory council for Hong Kong.

Jesse Song is a seasoned actuary with over 20 years of global experience, specializing in the development and management of health insurance products worldwide.  She has extensive experience collaborating with insurers, health providers, government agencies and employer groups to drive sustainable health insurance market growth. 

Jesse is currently the Global Medical Pricing Actuary at Swiss Re, providing technical guidance in health insurance product development, reinsurance pricing methodology, and large business deal reviews worldwide. Previously she was the head of Reinsurance Medical for the Asia market in Swiss Re, where she led a regional actuary team supporting medical reinsurance business across the Asia market.

Before joining Swiss Re, Jesse held various actuarial roles at leading insurance companies and consulting firms in the US and China. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA).  She holds a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University’s Department of Economics and Business Management.

Dhiran is a Partner in the actuarial and insurance solutions practice of Deloitte China and leads Deloitte’s Capital Offering to Hong Kong insurers. Dhiran has 21 years of experience in industry and in consulting with leading firms in the South Africa, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong. His breadth of experience covers Risk-based Capital (Solvency II, HKRBC, SG RBC2, ICS, Bermuda Solvency), Economic Capital, Capital Management including Investments and ALM and ESG / Climate Change. Dhiran also serves as the external Appointed Actuary for a Hong Kong reinsurer. He has a strong track record of leading large and complex engagements, delivering growth and building successful teams, managing C-suite stakeholders including regulators.

Katrien Verwilst is an experienced financial services executive with a track-record of leading the capital management, asset-liability management, investment management and reinsurance activities for large global insurers, operating across Asia, Europe and the Americas. She is a senior actuary with 25 years’ experience. 

In her most recent role until end 2024, Katrien headed up the Global Balance Sheet Optimisation function for HSBC Insurance as it embarked on a period of strategic business expansion. Based in Hong Kong, she was a member of the Global Insurance Executive Committee responsible for managing the congruence of finance, actuarial, investments and reinsurance as first line to lead delivery of well-run balance sheets, supporting market leading products and sustainable dividend flows to shareholders and policyholders.

Katrien joined HSBC in late 2017 from Prudential where she was the Director of Capital Management in Asia from 2012. Prior to Prudential she held various actuarial, asset-liability and investment management roles with Ageas/Fortis in Asia and Europe.

Katrien holds Master’s degrees in Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences and Portfolio Management. She is a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong and holds the FT Non-Executive Director diploma. She is a Belgian national and speaks Dutch, English and French.

Priscilla Adams is a globally recognized compliance expert and speaker with experience across banking, management consulting, and digital assets. Sally Yim is a Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group. Based in Hong Kong SAR, China, Sally is the Head of APAC Financial Institutions, responsible for Moody’s analytical teams covering ratings and research on APAC banks, insurance companies, and non-bank financial institutions such as securities and leasing companies. She is also a co-head of Moody’s Global Banking and Global Insurance & Asset Management rating franchises. In addition, Sally leads the Global Financial Institutions Group’s Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) efforts.

Sally joined Moody’s in February 2005 as an Associate Analyst in New York, covering property & casualty insurers. She transferred to Hong Kong in 2006 and completed a short stint in the Corporate Finance Group, supporting analysts in the
oil & gas, petrochemical and steel sectors. Sally rejoined the Financial Institutions Group as an Analyst in January 2007. Since then, Sally has covered various Asian financial institutions, including insurance companies, banks and securities firms and subsequently, became a manager overseeing various teams covering the ratings and research of Greater China and Korean financial institutions.

Prior to joining Moody’s, Sally worked as a Senior Auditor at Ernst & Young LLP in New York, specializing in private and public insurers. She also worked at Ernst & Young’s National Professional Practice, where she focused on technical accounting research, while assisting in accounting consultations.

Sally holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Accounting from the University of Michigan. She is a CFA charterholder and also a Certified Public Accountant.

Chen Huang is an Associate Managing Director within Moody’s Financial Institutions Group. Based in Hong Kong, she manages teams of analysts covering the ratings and research of Asian insurers and Chinese banks.

Chen joined Moody's in December 2020 as a Senior Vice President from Autonomous Research/Sanford C. Bernstein, where she primarily covered Chinese banks as a partner before moving to her most recent position as a consultant in China macrofinancial research. Previously, she worked at CLSA (now CITIC CLSA) as a senior analyst covering Chinese banks and non-bank financial institutions.

Earlier in her career, she worked as a senior auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers and had a brief stint at Caijing Magazine (now Caixin).

Chen received her Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University in the U.S and Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of International Business and Economics in China.

Alice is the Associate Managing Director of Strategy and Business Management – Asia Pacific for Moody’s Investors Service (MIS), based in Hong Kong. Alice is also the Head of Office for MIS HK. In her role, Alice works closely with MIS senior management to formulate strategic initiatives and facilitate the execution of MIS’ global strategy across Asia Pacific. She is also responsible for management and overseeing business and affairs of MIS HK with support from various Business Team Heads and the control functions. Prior to joining Moody’s, Alice worked at JPMorgan (JPM) in the US and China across multiple disciplines in Investment Banking, Corporate Development, Strategy and Finance. In her Strategy & Business Development role at JPM China, she led several strategic expansion initiatives involving joint ventures and its locally incorporated bank. Alice received her MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and her undergraduate degree from National Taiwan University.

Andrew is a Senior Director of the Insurance Solutions business in the Moody’s Hong Kong office. He has worked for over 20 years assisting customers in the application of enterprise software solutions. Andrew focuses on a variety of client-focused work including the development of our IFRS 17 proposition, and direct oversight of implementation projects. In this role he collaborates with advisory services, research, product, sales, and implementation services teams to deliver tailored solutions for insurers.

Andrew has over 10 years’ experience in risk management for pensions, banks, asset managers, and insurers. Before joining Moody’s Analytics, he worked at Markit/QuIC, Algorithmics, Mercer, and RBC. Andrew is a CFA Charterholder, and holds a variety of designations including the FRM, PRM, and CAIA.

Will is a Director at Moody’s and leads the Actuarial Modelling Services team in APAC. Will joined Barrie & Hibbert (subsequently acquired by Moody’s Analytics) in 2011 as a member of the modeling services team in Edinburgh, working on model calibration and investment governance services, before moving to Asia in 2012 supporting insurance clients across the region. Formerly a Performance and Risk Manager at Alliance Trust Asset Management, Will has an MSc in Applied Mathematics from Heriot Watt University, a BSc in Mathematics from University Edinburgh and is a CFA charter holder.

Stefan Angrick is the Head of Japan and Frontier Market Economics at Moody's in Tokyo. He holds a master's degree from Leipzig University and a PhD from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo. He has previously held positions with Oxford Economics, the Asian Development Bank Institute, the Bank of Finland, and Keio University.

Joseph Lin is a VP – Senior Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group in Hong Kong, responsible for the coverage on Taiwan and Hong Kong banks as well as NBFIs in China.

Joe has extensive experience in debt capital markets and credit ratings. Joe joins Moody's from CLSA Hong Kong, where he was a Director in Rating Advisory from 2020 to 2022, and prior to that, he was a Director in Debt Capital Markets at CCB International Capital Ltd in Hong Kong from 2017 to 2020. As a rating advisor, his coverage included financial institutions and corporations in China and ASEAN, and he also acted as an ESG advisor.

Prior to his role in rating advisory, Joe was a credit rating analyst at Standard & Poor’s Global Ratings from 2007 to 2017 where he had diverse experience covering infrastructure issuers, leveraged finance transactions as well as acting as a trainer. He was based in New York, Taipei and Hong Kong.

Joe received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Syracuse University, Master of Business Administration in Financial Management from Pace University and Master of Science in Management from New York University.

Frank Yuen is a Vice President–Senior Credit Officer with Moody’s Ratings’ Financial Institutions Group. Based in Hong Kong, he covers a portfolio of insurers in Hong Kong, China and other parts of Asia Pacific.

Before joining Moody’s, Frank was an Equity Research Analyst, covering regional banks and insurers at BNP Paribas and Standard Chartered. In addition, Frank has worked as a management trainee and actuarial intern at a global bank and also an insurance company.

Frank graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in Actuarial Science, and is a CFA and FRM charterholder.

David Yin is a Vice President – Senior Credit Officer with the Financial Institutions Group at Moody’s Investors Service Hong Kong Limited. David is covering a portfolio of banks and non-bank financial institutions in China.

Before joining Moody’s, David worked as equity research analyst for Standard Chartered Bank, covering Chinese banks and securities companies. Earlier, he had covered Chinese financial institutions in Bank of China International Securities (China). He had also worked in the ECM department of Goldman Sachs Gao Hua Securities.

David holds a MSc in management and a BA in Economics from Peking University.

Juwon Lee is Vice President – Senior Analyst with Moody’s Ratings, Financial Institutions Group. Based in Hong Kong, she covers a portfolio of financial institutions in Korea and Mongolia. 

Juwon newly joins from Australia and New Zealand Banking Group where she covered Korea financial institutions and Japan banks for seven years. Prior to ANZ, she spent six years at Macquarie Securities as an equity analyst covering Korea shipbuilding, machinery, and logistic companies. Juwon also held positions at MUFG Bank and Hyundai Oilbank. 

Juwon holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ewha Womans University.

Jessie Hong is an Analyst with the Financial Institutions Group at Moody’s Investors Service Hong Kong Limited. Jessie is covering a portfolio of non-bank financial institutions in Greater China.

Jessie joined Moody’s in 2018 as an Associate Analyst. Prior to joining Moody’s, Jessie worked as an equity research associate covering Chinese financial institutions at Nomura, and was a senior audit associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Jessie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is also a CPA.
