At Gurīn Energy, Michael translates the business plan into annual budgets and multi-year year forecasts; maintains standards of financial management, analysis and reporting; develops and manages financial and support staff; leads on all financial and modelling aspects of investment decision making and project development and maintains relationships with banks, financial advisors and investor teams.

Michael holds an MA from the University of St Andrews in Scotland and is an ICAEW qualified Chartered Accountant who brings three decades of experience of finance and capital markets and a strong knowledge of the international investment and banking communities.

Dr Chua covers Singapore and ASEAN macro-economic research themes at Maybank, and has been ranked top economist in Singapore by Asiamoney. He was formerly a consultant at GIC, and Head of Emerging Asia and ASEAN Economics at Bank of America Merrill Lynch for about six years. 

Dr Chua has also worked as a strategist and economist at Citigroup, Deutsche Private Wealth Management, and DBS Bank. Prior to joining the private sector, he was with the Monetary Authority of Singapore, heading the external economies, financial surveillance and planning, policy and communications divisions. 

Dr Chua holds a PhD in Economics from Harvard University, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Brown University. He was a Visiting Lecturer in International Economics at Yale University for a year after completing his PhD.

Atul Jhavar is the Head of Southeast Asia Capital Markets Financing at Barclays, based in Singapore.

In this role, Atul oversees the bank’s financing business across Southeast Asia, spanning Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged & Acquisition Finance, and Structured Credit. He also leads Barclays’ Sustainable Capital Markets efforts in Asia, collaborating with DCM and fixed income syndicate teams to originate, structure, and execute ESG-labelled debt products across the region.

Sam Lee joined EdgeConneX in November 2021 as Managing Director, Market & Commercial Development for the Asia-Pacific region and is leading efforts to grow the EdgeConnex platform across multiple countries in Asia. 

He has more than two decades of experience in leading strategic teams in business development, sales, operations, real estate and finance. 

Prior to joining EdgeConneX, Sam was Managing Director, Data Centers at Lendlease, where he was responsible for launching and managing one of Asia’s largest DC-focused funds, and successfully closed its maiden asset in Japan.

His career accolades include overseeing the completion of Global Switch’s data center in Singapore while growing the business. Sam was also one of the early members of the Digital Realty team in Asia, which was instrumental in laying the foundation for its success in Asia.

Sam holds a Masters of Business Administration from Chicago Booth School of Business.

Suraj Shetty is a Managing Director in the Telecommunications, Media & Technology team at DBS Bank Ltd., Singapore. With two decades of banking experience across Asia-Pacific and Australia, Suraj specializes in strategic coverage of the region’s largest corporates providing financing solutions to them. He has led and executed numerous high-profile marquee transactions, helping clients navigate complex markets and drive growth.

Suraj holds a PGDM from IIM Ahmedabad and B.Tech. & M.Tech. from IIT Bombay. Following an internship with Goldman Sachs, London in the Investment Banking Division, he began his career with DBS Bank in Singapore as a Management Associate and then worked in the Energy, Chemicals & Infrastructure team. He rejoined DBS in 2017 after stints with Deutsche Bank, and then Raiffeisen Bank, where he managed corporate coverage, undertook a stint with credit risk at Head Office in Vienna and served as the Head of Loan Workouts for S.E.Asia reporting to the Chief Risk Officer for Asia.

Venn Saltirov, CFA, Director, is a portfolio manager and a member of the Asia Fixed Income & Credit team. He is also the ESG Investment Lead for Asia Credit. Prior to joining BlackRock in 2012, Venn was part of the #1 II-ranked European Industrials Fixed Fixed Income Research team at JP Morgan in London. Previously, Venn spent 5 years in Lehman Brothers New York where he managed a portfolio of Asia emerging markets investments for the Lehman Bankruptcy Estate and prior to that he was an Associate in Global Trading Strategies, a principal investment group. Venn began his career at Lehman Brothers in the Global Technology Investment Banking division. Venn earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics and International Relations from Colgate University and an MBA from INSEAD. He has an EDX certificate in Climate Change: The Science and Global Impact.
