Australia and New Zealand Outlook
Resilience and Challenges
The Australian and New Zealand economies have embraced endemic living, facilitating a strong post-pandemic recovery. But challenges remain.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine complicates the global post-pandemic recovery by compounding already high inflation and complicating the path of central banks’ policy normalisation. Households will be increasingly challenged by higher borrowing costs against the backdrop of a cooling property market and increased living expenses including energy. Furthermore, exporters may be challenged by slower growth in China as well as in North America and Europe.
