closeSimon Harris is a Managing Director at Moody’s. Simon’s current role is focused on Moody’s consolidated offerings to the Insurance industry – including the ratings services provided by Moody’s Investors Service, and the data, software and models provided by Moody’s Analytics.
Previously, Simon led Moody’s Ratings Global Financial Institutions Group for 5 years, steering the ratings and research work of Moody’s Ratings Insurance, Banking and Asset Management teams globally, having previously led the Ratings Global Insurance team.
Simon joined Moody’s Ratings in 1998 after qualifying as an Actuary and working in the UK Insurance market.
Simon is Fellow of the UK Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA), and holds a BA in Economics from Leeds University.
Ben Brookes is Managing Director, Insurance Advisory at Moody's, leading work across risk advisory, solution design and architecture, and implementation. Ben works with clients across the insurance, reinsurance, and investment communities on workflow efficiency, emerging risk topics, and on new applications of Moody's capabilities. Ben has spent over two decades at the intersection of cutting-edge risk analytics, new market exploration, and client problem-solving, across RMS and Moody's. He started his career in RMS's capital markets team, working on more than 50 catastrophe bond transactions and building deep experience in catastrophe modelling for risk management, risk transfer, and strategic decision-making.
Ben holds a Master of Engineering in Engineering Mathematics from the University of Bristol.
Charlotte Acton, PhD, is Senior Director and Head of Risk Advisory within Moody's Insurance Solutions. She leads the Risk Advisory function, working with clients globally across the (re)insurance, financial, corporate and public sectors to apply catastrophe and climate analytics to risk management and risk transfer challenges.
During her 17-year career with RMS and Moody's, Charlotte has worked across a broad range of catastrophe risk, climate risk and resilience applications. Having started her career in the RMS capital markets team, she has extensive experience in the use of catastrophe modelling to support risk management, risk transfer and strategic decision-making.
Charlotte has significant experience in Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) and alternative risk transfer, including catastrophe bonds, parametric solutions and risk pool design. Today, her remit includes responsibility for Moody's ILS advisory services, supporting clients across the insurance, reinsurance and investment communities.
Charlotte holds an MSci in Natural Sciences and a PhD in Seismology from the University of Cambridge.
Brandan is a SVP-Ratings in the EMEA Insurance Team, with analytical responsibility for a range of (re)insurance ratings across the EMEA region.
Brandan joined Moody’s New York office in 2010, as an analyst responsible for a diverse portfolio of US insurance and reinsurance companies. Prior to joining Moody’s, he was Assured Guaranty Ltd., responsible for accounting policy and transaction advisory services. Brandan started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in South Africa, later transferring to the New York office where he was a manager in the Assurance practice, primarily responsible for the audits of life insurance companies. Brandan holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Pretoria and a MBA in finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He is a Chartered Accountant (SA) and a Certified Public Accountant (NY).
Alex Mican is Director, Insurance Advisory, for Moody's Analytics with a focus on business development and expansion for the ILS space. Prior to joining Moody's, Alex was head of PCS global strategy and growth at Verisk. He led new market entry, solution development, and reinsurance/ILS activity, focusing on the global specialty market, including marine and energy, cyber, aviation, and political violence.
Alex holds an ARe, was named to Intelligent Insurer's list of “40 Rising Stars Under 35”, and awarded “Young Risk Professional of the Year” in 2021 by InsuranceERM. He was involved with the US RE40s group from 2017-2023, and also served as the group's president.
Richard Gray is General Manager of Beazley Bermuda and Head of Third-Party Capital for Beazley. His responsibilities include managing Beazley’s Bermuda platform, leading the company’s ILS programme and overseeing its relationships with Lloyd’s members and institutional capital providers. Richard was previously with a members’ agent where he provided portfolio construction advice to investors in the Lloyd’s market. Having started his financial services career as an investment banker with Morgan Grenfell, Richard subsequently spent more than 20 years working in fund management, institutional wealth management and multi-asset research for, amongst others, Threadneedle, UBS, and Credit Suisse. Richard has a Law degree from King’s College, London University, and served as an infantry officer in the British Army.
Jin Shah is Head of Sales & Distribution at Gallagher Securities, responsible for leading the firm's capital raising and investor engagement activities across catastrophe bonds, sidecars, and other Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS) solutions. With more than 20 years of experience in capital markets, reinsurance, and catastrophe risk analytics, he brings extensive expertise in connecting institutional investors with reinsurance risk transfer opportunities. Prior to joining Gallagher Securities in 2023, Jin held senior roles at Moody's RMS, where he led client engagement in the EMEA region and developed innovative ILS advisory services including parametric solutions, climate risk analytics, and portfolio management applications. He maintains strong relationships across the global ILS investor community and plays a key role in the successful execution and distribution of ILS transactions.
Partner and Co-Portfolio Manager at ICOSA Investments AG, with over 15 years of experience in insurance-linked securities and cat bond portfolio management. Raffaele brings broad experience across the investment value chain, from catastrophe risk modelling and pricing to portfolio management and institutional investment advisory, providing him with a deep understanding of both the underlying risks and opportunities and investors’ approach to the asset class.
Raffaele joined ICOSA in July 2026 from Cambridge Associates, where he was Managing Director and Head of ILS Research following the acquisition of SIGLO Capital Advisors in 2024. At SIGLO, as Partner and Head of ILS, he was responsible for USD 2.3 billion of discretionary ILS mandates for Swiss institutional investors. Previously, he headed Private ILS Strategies at Twelve Capital and managed Schroders’ flagship cat bond strategies, which grew from USD 750 million to over USD 3 billion during his tenure. Earlier roles included catastrophe risk modelling and pricing at SCOR and reinsurance advisory at Deloitte.
Raffaele holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Zurich and an MSc in Physics from ETH Zurich.
