Carl Fox is a seasoned data management professional with a distinguished career. He leads the Data Innovation and Advisory function within EMEA SMBC and from the inception of his role, Carl has been instrumental in creating a central hub aimed at fostering data-driven business transformation and enhancing decision-making processes. His strategic foresight facilitated the creation of a data-centric culture and the integration of data practices aligned with the bank's strategic goals. Carl's collaborative efforts in developing the Data Architecture Function, alongside enhancing capabilities for handling diverse data types, have been instrumental in advancing data-led business transformations. His leadership was pivotal in establishing a greenfield data office, ensuring robust visibility of projects across the organization, and embedding improved data policies for compliance. Prior to his transformative role at EMEA SMBC, Carl was a Senior Data Manager in the Wholesale (CMB & GB&M) Chief Data & Analytics Office at HSBC, where he managed the master data management (MDM) system on behalf of the corporate client division.
Ian leads the evolution of Moody’s value proposition in the Europe and Africa for MDM solutions in all industries and have specific expertise around Data Governance and Data Management. Ian does this by providing thought leadership, sharing best practices, and navigating the regulatory landscape in order to translate industry needs into Moody’s product capabilities to help our customers make better decisions. Additionally, for the past 30 years, Ian has built Customer Risk and Due Diligence (KYC, AML, Sanctions & Fraud) solutions across the customer lifecycle in most European industries and consequently understand the compliance challenges they face. By sharing industry best practices, Ian helps them craft a risk-based approach to address this issue.
Steve Kleinmann is an Industry Practice Lead for Moody's Analytics, specialized in master data management and sales & marketing data solutions, with over 20 years of consulting experience leading digital transformations in these areas. Today, Steve advises Moody’s clients across numerous sectors in best practices for gaining competitive advantages through better, faster data-driven decisions.
With a remarkable 36-year tenure at the same company, Esa Pallaspuro career has been defined by his pivotal role in integrating and advancing IT and data management systems. Starting at the Rautaruukki Research Center, Esa initially bridged the gap between research and production. Transitioning into a focus on customer-centric IT projects, including data warehouses, Mr. Pallaspuro then moved to a global IT role in 2005, significantly contributing to Master Data Management (MDM) systems and processes. Following a merger with SSAB, he led the integration of master data systems, ensuring a seamless transition. Starting in 2020, Esa focused on embedding sanction compliance processes into highly automated and integrated MDM to avoid huge manual efforts. Currently, Esa plays a crucial role in the Global Enterprise Architecture Team, focusing on data strategy, architecture, and quality, and are instrumental in driving SSAB's digital transformation and the implementation of data-centric approaches in new fossil-free mini-mills. Mr. Pallaspuro’s career is marked by a commitment to digital innovation, with a notable achievement in progressing the company's MDM systems from their inception in the early 2000s to the present, preparing to launch a fourth-generation MDM cloud solution.
