The long-term economic impacts of climate change have been top of mind for much of the world in recent years, and regulators in the U.S. are taking notice. To better prepare banks and other financial stakeholders to manage these risks, Moody’s Analytics has now incorporated climate change into its state and metro area economic forecasts and will soon publish first-of-its-kind regional climate change scenarios that cover hundreds of variables across the U.S.
This webinar will discuss the importance of accounting for climate change in long-term projections, converting key risk factors into regional forecasts, and critical insights on how climate change can affect various parts of the U.S.

Adam Kamins is a director at Moody’s Analytics. He manages the firm’s U.S. subnational forecasting process and covers a wide variety of topics related to regional economics while frequently writing and presenting about both the New York and broader Northeast economies. Adam is also responsible for state and metro area scenarios, analyzing and forecasting commercial real estate prices and activity, and quantifying the impact of external events such as natural disasters. Prior to joining Moody’s Analytics, Adam was a research manager at the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, where he analyzed urban economies. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor's degree in quantitative economics from Tufts University.
Chris Lafakis is a director at Moody's. His expertise is in model validation, macroeconomics and energy economics. Based in West Chester PA, he also covers the California economy and contributes to Economy.com. Chris has been quoted by media outlets, including CNBC and the Wall Street Journal, and often speaks at economic conferences and events. He received his bachelor's degree in economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his master's degree in economics from the University of Alabama.
Thomas Nichols is an economist at Moody’s Analytics. He covers Louisiana, Kentucky and Russia. He also works on the Canadian subnational economy and environmental and energy economics. Before joining Moody’s Analytics, he worked in money management for Fisher Investments. Thomas earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and history from Pennsylvania State University, where his honors thesis addressed oil price forecasting.
