Antero Carrillo joined Bank of America Merrill Lynch in 2010. Since then, Antero has been responsible for the Bank’s businesses in Peru, as well as the Bank’s investment banking practice in the Country, advising both corporate and sovereign clients.
During his career, Antero has worked on a variety of advisory, M&A, restructuring, capital markets and financing assignments in the U.S. and Latin America, across a wide variety of industries. Antero has advised on M&A deals in aggregate of more than US$35 billion, and over US$70 billion in capital raisings, loan financings and capital markets transactions.
Some recent transactions include advising Grupo Romero on its sale of 50% of Tramarsa to GIP; Sempra on its $4.9 billion sale of Luz del Sur to CYPC; Kenon on its US$ 3.2 billion sale of IC Power to iSquared Capital; Breca on its sale of Exsa to Orica Limited; Andino Investment Holding on the sale of its logistics and port business to DP World; China Three Gorges on its US$ 1.4 billion acquisition of Chaglla Hydro Power Plant in Peru; MMG on its US$6.0 billion acquisition of Las Bambas; Milpo minority shareholders on the sale of 20% of their stake; Enfoca on its sale of Maestro to Falabella (private equity deal of the year by Latin Finance); Petroperu on its joint venture to develop Block 64, Hochschild Mining on its acquisition of IMZ;BCP, Interbank, BBVA and Scotiabank on their respective Tier II Notes Offerings; Credicorp on its USD 500mm inaugural bond; Pluspetrol on its USD 500mm international bond offering; Republic of Peru on its PEN 10 billion Global Notes Offering (largest PEN single offering); Energia Eolica on its inaugural bond offering (first Green bond out of Latin America),IFS on its $400mm initial public offering in the NYSE, among others. Since he began covering Peru in 2010, Antero has led more than 70 capital markets transactions, raising capital for Peruvian clients in excess of US$50 billion.
Prior to joining Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Antero was with Macquarie Capital (USA) at the firm’s private equity and investment banking business in Latin America; before Macquarie, he was Director in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at UBS Investment Bank in New York.
Antero holds a B.S. in Systems Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria and an MBA in Finance and Strategy from The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. Antero is married, has two daugthers, and lives in Lima – Peru.
