Colin Ellis is Moody’s first Global Credit Strategist, and a Managing Director in the Credit Strategy team. 

In his current role, Colin provides thought leadership for the rating agency that deepens the understanding of ratings and debt capital markets through rigorous and quantitative research. He leads Moody’s teams working on default and ratings analytics and on global financial analysis, including bank projections and stress testing. Colin is also a member of Moody’s Macroeconomic Board, which sets the global forecasts that underpin Moody’s universe of ratings.

Colin joined Moody’s in February 2012, initially leading the work of the Macroeconomic Board and authoring the quarterly Global Macro Outlook. He subsequently worked in the Financial Institutions Group, developing quantitative forward-looking analyses. For 8 years he was the Chief Credit Officer for EMEA, leading analysis and coordination of credit and ratings across all rating franchises in the region. He was also the ‘Head of UK’ for Moody's Ratings, responsible for the running of Moody’s UK operations, from 2019-2022 including the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Prior to joining Moody’s, Colin held roles at the Bank of England, Daiwa Capital Markets, the BVCA and at Birmingham University. He has published papers on a range of topics including corporate investment and pricing, credit risk, private equity, data uncertainty, stress testing, financial contagion and monetary policy. Colin holds degrees from York University, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Middlesex University. He is a Visiting Professor at Hult International Business School and LSBU, and is also a Fellow of the RSA.

Anne Van Praagh is Global Head of the Public, Project & Infrastructure Finance Group for Moody’s Ratings, overseeing credit ratings and research on public sector entities worldwide.

Prior to this role, Anne led the Sovereign Risk Group in 2021 and 2022. Anne was head of Ratings Research from 2019 to early 2022, driving the content and engagement strategy for 20,000 research publications published annually. In 2016, Anne launched the Credit Strategy & Research group, setting Moody’s macroeconomic and “house views” on emerging risk trends and coordinating Moody’s credit response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Previously she held roles as MD for Sovereign Risk in the Americas, Middle East and APAC, Chief Credit Officer for Public Sector Ratings, and lead analyst for US infrastructure, states and local governments. She also spent three years as vice president in Morgan Stanley’s public finance investment banking team advising on $25 billion in financings. 

Anne began her career as a speechwriter at the US Department of Defense in the Clinton Administration. She has a Master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a Bachelor’s degree from George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. She is married with two daughters.

Marc R. Pinto, CFA, serves as a Managing Director in the Financial Institutions Group at Moody's, overseeing insurance credit ratings and research as Co-Head of Global Insurance. His prior roles include Global Head of the Funds & Asset Management Group and Chief Credit Policy Officer for North American Banks. Marc is an Executive Sponsor for Moody's Network of CFA Charterholders and the Global Administrative Professionals (GAP) Network, mentors in the Women’s Business Resource Group, and contributes to the CORE (Creating Opportunities for Racial Equity) initiative. He also sits on the Asset Management Committee, which oversees Moody’s US retirement savings and global pension plans.Before Moody's, Marc's career spanned roles as a sell-side, buy-side, and credit rating agency analyst in New York and London. He led Credit and Economics Research in EMEA and the Americas at Merrill Lynch and was a top-ranked financial institutions analyst. He served as Head of Corporate Bond Strategy at Susquehanna International, a portfolio manager at KBW Asset Management, now a part of Stifel Financial, and a Director at Fitch Ratings. Marc started his career at the United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome. He holds degrees from Columbia Business School and Trinity College (CT).

Paloma San Valentin is Head of the Corporate Finance Group (CFG) in North America for Moody’s Ratings, based in New York, overseeing the development of rating opinions and research on corporates in the region. Paloma previously served as Co-Head for US and Americas CFG. From 2010 to 2014, she was a Managing Director in CFG in London, where she was in charge of the analytical teams covering a diverse portfolio of mostly consumer-facing industries including telecom, media, airlines, food processors, real estate, packaged goods, or business services. Paloma joined Moody’s in the summer of 2008, bringing 15 years of international corporate credit and banking experience. Prior to joining Moody’s, Paloma was Country Credit Risk Officer for Bank of America in Spain and responsible for the bank’s Iberian corporate credit portfolio and French general industrial clients. During her career, Paloma also spent three years at Credit Suisse, in different credit risk and investment banking capacities. Ms. San Valentin holds an MBA from Instituto de Estudios Superiores de la Empresa (IESE), Barcelona, Spain, and a BA in Business and Economics from the Free University of Brussels, Belgium.

William (Bill) Foster is a Vice President-Senior Credit Officer in Moody’s Sovereign Risk Group in New York, where he serves as lead analyst on the United States, Canada, India, and World Bank Group credits.

Bill joined Moody’s in August 2016, following 10 years at the U.S. Department of the Treasury. He most recently served as Senior Advisor for International Financial Markets based in New York, where he was the Office of International Affairs’ first dedicated liaison to New York’s international financial community. From August 2012 to March 2015, he served as the U.S. Financial Attaché to India at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, where he represented the U.S. Government as its primary economic expert and financial diplomat in India. Bill joined Treasury’s Office of International Affairs as an international economist in 2006, and covered a wide range of geographies during his tenure, including Latin America, South and East Asia. Prior to joining Treasury, he worked as a management consultant at Accenture.

Bill holds a Master of International Affairs degree in International Financial and Economic Policy from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and a BA from Wesleyan University. He is a member of The Economic Club of New York and an Industry Advisory Board Member for Columbia Business School’s India Business Initiative.
