Mark Zandi is chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, where he directs economic research. Moody’s Analytics, a subsidiary of Moody’s Corp., is a leading provider of economic research, data and analytical tools. Dr. Zandi cofounded Economy.com, which Moody’s purchased in 2005.

Dr. Zandi is on the board of directors of MGIC, the nation’s largest private mortgage insurance company, is the lead director of PolicyMap, a data visualization and analytics company used by policymakers and commercial businesses, and is a director of the Coleridge Initiative, a nonprofit that facilitates the exchange of data across governments. 

He is a trusted adviser to policymakers and an influential source of economic analysis for businesses, journalists and the public. Dr. Zandi frequently testifies before Congress and conducts regular briefings on the economy for corporate boards, trade associations and policymakers at all levels. 

Dr. Zandi is the author of Paying the Price: Ending the Great Recession and Beginning a New American Century, which assesses the monetary and fiscal policy response to the Great Recession. His other book, Financial Shock: A 360º Look at the Subprime Mortgage Implosion, and How to Avoid the Next Financial Crisis, is described by The New York Times as the “clearest guide” to the financial crisis. Dr. Zandi is host of the Inside Economics podcast. 

Dr. Zandi earned his BS from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and his PhD at the University of Pennsylvania.

Justin Begley is a U.S.-based economist at Moody’s Analytics. He covers the economies of Minnesota, Alabama, Wyoming, and several U.S. metro areas. His research focuses on U.S. fiscal policy, geopolitical risk, and the U.S. labor market. He also works on developing models to forecast high-frequency data of the U.S. economy and is a regular contributor to Economic View. Prior to joining Moody’s Analytics, Justin held fellowships at Florida State University and in political economy at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University. Justin holds a master’s of science in economics from Florida State University and a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Canisius College.

Cristian deRitis, Deputy Chief Economist at Moody’s Analytics, specializes in assessing the economy’s impact on household finance, housing, credit markets and public policy. Named on two U.S. patents for credit modeling, he created loss forecasting and stress testing systems for financial institutions. He joined Moody’s in 2008, after serving as a director with Fannie Mae. He also was an adjunct professor of economics at Johns Hopkins University.

Matthew Walsh is an associate economist at Moody’s Analytics. He covers the economies of Tennessee, Alaska and several U.S. metropolitan areas, as well as Bulgaria and Slovakia. He is also involved in various labor economic consulting projects and has modeled and forecasted housing and demographic dynamics at a block-group level.

Matthew’s most recent research focused on modeling saving rates by demographic cohort. Using data from the Federal Reserve, he creased estimates of saving for different segments of the population, including by income percentile, educational attainment, age cohort, and homeownership status. Matthew has also done research on the economic impact of increased foreign direct investment in Southeast Asian economies from China’s Belt and Road initiative.

He has a bachelor’s degree in mathematical economics from Temple University.

Mark Hopkins is a senior director at Moody’s with responsibilities for international macroeconomic research and global forecasting, including the design and maintenance of the Moody’s Analytics global macro model and suite of country forecast models. Dr. Hopkins has also been responsible for forecasting Canada’s economy and U.S. federal fiscal policy, and oversees the U.S. international trade forecast. Previously, he taught macroeconomics at Gettysburg College and served as an international economist on the staff of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. He has published in the areas of international economics, economic growth and foreign policy. He received his PhD in economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and a BA from Wesleyan University.

Shandor Whitcher is an associate economist in the Research Department at Moody’s Analytics. He covers the economies of Finland, Iraq, and New Mexico, as well as several U.S. metro areas. He received his master’s degree in economics from Drexel University and his bachelor’s degree in economics from Northern Arizona University.

Dante DeAntonio is a senior director at Moody’s Analytics. He manages and regularly contributes to Economic View. Dante specializes in U.S. macroeconomics, with a focus on the labor market and regional economics. Dante regularly presents to clients and conferences, and has been featured in a number of media outlets. Before joining Moody’s Analytics, he worked as an economist in the Current Employment Statistics program at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Dante is also an adjunct professor in the Economics and Finance Department at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Previously, he was an adjunct in the Economics Department at Lehigh University. He holds a master’s degree and PhD in economics from Lehigh University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Pennsylvania State University.

Marisa DiNatale is a Senior Director and Head of Global Forecasting at Moody’s. Marisa oversees all forecasting and publication operations in the Economics group within Predictive Analytics at Moody’s. Her areas of specialization and research are U.S. labor markets, household balance sheets and credit, and international economics. She is a cohost of the Moody’s weekly podcast “Inside Economics”. Marisa started her career as a labor economist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, DC. She holds a master’s degree in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Boston University.

Michael Brisson is a senior economist and associate director at Moody's. He is the lead auto economist working as a member of the Economic Research group in West Chester PA. Mike works at developing new, empirically driven auto-related products and services. Prior to leading the Moody’s Analytics auto research team, Mike built loan and vintage-level CECL, CCAR, and stress-testing models of consumer loan performance as a member of the Business Analytics group at Moody's Analytics. Additionally, Mike has spent time developing econometric models used by U.S. states and local governments for tax/revenue projections. Mike holds a PhD in applied economics from Northeastern University.

Damien Moore is a Director of economic research at Moody’s Analytics. He covers U.S. financial markets, provides research on finance-related topics, develops market risk models for stress-testing and other applications, and works on various Moody’s Analytics models and tools related to government and corporate finances. He has broad expertise in financial economics including asset pricing, valuation methodologies, portfolio analytics, macro finance, and financial econometrics.

Prior to joining Moody’s Analytics, Damien spent 12 years at the Congressional Budget Office, most recently as the head of the agency’s Financial Analysis Division, where he supervised projects analyzing the federal role in the financial system and the costs of federal financial programs. Under his supervision, the Division produced numerous reports including analyses of policies to rescue the U.S. financial system during the 2008 financial crisis, the federal conservatorships of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the federal role in housing and mortgage markets, the Pension Benefits Guarantee Corporation, and federal student loan programs. Before his time at the CBO, Damien was a lecturer in the School of Business at the University of Sydney. He taught classes in investments, fixed income securities, and corporate finance.

Damien holds a PhD in economics from Northwestern University as well as undergraduate degrees in economics and accounting from the Australian National University.

Martin A. Wurm is a senior economist with Moody’s Analytics. He covers financial markets, with a focus on market risk, as well as regional economies in the U.S. Before joining Moody’s Analytics, he served as associate professor of Economics at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma WA. Dr. Wurm has published on financial market development and informal economies and has conducted local impact studies and forecasts. He holds a doctorate and master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and completed his undergraduate work at the University of Potsdam and the Ludwig-Maximilian’s University in Munich, Germany.

David Hamilton is Managing Director, Head of Asset Management Research, based in New York. He has held various senior positions in both Moody’s Ratings and Moody’s Analytics over his 27-year career with Moody's. Mr. Hamilton has worked across different asset classes including corporates, high-yield, financial institutions, sovereigns, public finance, structured finance, and digital assets, and in diverse leadership roles in quantitative research, credit policy, and business development in the US and Asia. Prior to joining Moody’s in 1997, Mr. Hamilton worked in the Regional Economics group at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.

Karl Zandi is managing director of Data Services for Moody’s Analytics. He is responsible for all commercial and technical aspects of the company's data operations. Karl holds a bachelor's degree from King of Prussia University.

Thomas P LaSalvia, Ph.D. is the Head of Commercial Real Estate Economics at Moody's Analytics. Thomas, a former professor, brings his pedagogical prowess to his extensive research into the marketplace, with a specific focus on the multifamily sector.  His work is frequently published in a variety of periodicals, and he spends a vast amount of time presenting his findings to a variety of industry and academic professionals.  Prior to joining Moody's  Analytics, he served in a consulting role for the firm while teaching classes in foundational economics and urban economics at The College of William &  Mary. 

Adam Kamins is a director at Moody’s Analytics. He manages the firm’s U.S. subnational forecasting process and covers a wide variety of topics related to regional economics while frequently writing and presenting about both the New York and broader Northeast economies. Adam is also responsible for state and metro area scenarios, analyzing and forecasting commercial real estate prices and activity, and quantifying the impact of external events such as natural disasters. Prior to joining Moody’s Analytics, Adam was a research manager at the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City, where he analyzed urban economies. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor's degree in quantitative economics from Tufts University.

Andrew Hunter is an associate director and senior economist at Moody’s Analytics based in Edinburgh, Scotland. He covers the U.K. and other European economies and helps to oversee written research across the EMEA region. Andrew has more than a decade’s experience in macroeconomic research and previously worked for Capital Economics, primarily covering the U.S. economy. He holds a master’s degree in economic history from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of St Andrews.

Stefan Angrick is the Head of Japan and Frontier Market Economics at Moody's in Tokyo. Before joining Moody’s Analytics, Brendan worked as a senior economist with IHS Global Insight’s U.S. Macroeconomic Service. Brendan received his PhD in economics from the University of Virginia.
